CYDEC Conference 2019

New faces and training at YMCA

YMCA Cayman (Y) is welcoming a new member of its team. Gillian Roffey has taken up the role of Operations Director. Within her role she is charged with the managment and improvement of the Y’s programmes, and expanding its reach.

Miss Roffey says she’s “just trying to have the biggest impact on the community.”

Falling directly under Miss Roffey’s responsibilities is the Y’s after school programme. The Y was awarded the contracted by Government. They serve up to 1,500 students, from 15 government school.

In order for the Y to continue its programmes, volunteers are key. The organisation will be hosting a training conference for volunteers this weekend. Twelve trainers, both local and from overseas, will instruct volunteers in areas such as literacy, discipline, arts and crafts, and safety.

Greg Smith, CEO of YMCA Cayman, says they are focused on matching people with their strengths and passions.
