The people have spoken, and government says it’s turning back the clock on daylight savings time.
The Premier’s office has confirmed plans to better align Cayman’s clocks with the US’ East coast have been shelved.
In a statement, the premier’s office said heavy pressure from constituents against the measure have put plans to implement daylight savings in March on hold.
“As with most of the issues government deals with, we listen to the public. Despite the results of the earlier survey, we have received considerable objections to the introduction of daylight savings time. As such, we do not believe that now is the right time to bring legislation to the house,” read the statement.
