Work ready KY motive questioned

The immediate past-president of the Chamber of Commerce says the devil is in the details when it comes to government’s new work initiative.

Johann Moxam says he’s waiting to hear what Work Ready KY is all about but questions the timing of it, likening it to the Christmas clean-up programme. “If it was vote buying under the previous administration, it has to be the same thing under this administrative. I have no problems with anybody trying to help our people get ahead. Let’s be candid. Soemthing needed to be done, government claimed to be broke for a number of initiatives. When you are getting nearer to election time, money shows up – you now have $1.7 million to throw at this work ready programme, great. You now have money for the Christmas clean up, this was the same programme they beat to a pulp under the previous administration.”

Mr. Moxam appeared with political activist Chris Saunders on last night’s edition of The Panel.

Government wants to spend $1.7 mill to get people into private sector internships and work programmes.
