Celebrations during the CIFA Premier League finals turned sour after a scuffle broke out on the pitch. With only minutes to go before the end of the match, Roma United was beating Bodden Town FC 2-1.
After a failed free quick by Roma, Bodden Town tried to seize the chance to even up the score board. However the referee blew the whistle, and called of the play. A heated change between the Ref and players on Bodden Town lead to tempers flair, and supporters from both teams invading the pitch.
Within a few minutes the refs were able to restore order on the pitch however Bodden Town FC’s players, seemingly still upset, refused to take the field. Ergo the refs blew off the game and Roma hoisted the trophy as the champions.
This is the second time that an altercation resulting in people invading the pitch has happened this season. Cayman 27 reached out to the CIFA seeking a comment, we received no reply.
