There is optimism about the hotel industry in Cayman along the entire cost spectrum. Even as construction continues on the luxury end Kimpton Seafire and business remains brisk at the Ritz Carlton, a visiting executive with Choice Hotels sees positive signs for the Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach.
“Quite frankly, it’s a good time to be in the lodging business,” said Anne Smith, Vice President for Brand Strategy, “It’s a great time to be building a hotel and certainly we’ve seen a lot of attraction from new development and construction in a lot of our brands, so we’re hoping that it’s a sign of more good things to come in the future.”
Ms. Smith says there is room on Grand Cayman for the budget traveler and family vacation planners.
“If the only resorts on an island like Grand Cayman are luxury resorts, then the island will be off-limits to so many people who would love to come and experience the beauty of Grand Cayman,” she said, “So for the Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach to offer value here, it opens Grand Cayman to people that might not otherwise have a chance to visit.”
Choice Hotels has 11 hotels operating in the Caribbean under various brand names.
