The 2016 Cayman Cricket season bowled off this weekend but one familiar club was nowhere to be found.
Leaders of the By-Rite club say they have pulled the team from domestic competition because they’re angry over what they believe is the forced resignation of Technical Director Theo Cuffy.
Cayman Cricket earlier this year announced Cuffy will resign in June.
“In respect of our father, who would not go along with what this association is doing, we have — out of respect for our father — withdrawn By-Rite this year from the cricket competition,” former national team player David Wight said. “What has deeply hurt the players and our family is how they have treated Theo Cuffy. They have treated him unfairly. Without coach Cuffy as technical director, Cayman Cricket will fall to even lower than they are now.”
Cayman Cricket has declined to comment on the matter.
