Coconuts: One of the signature fruits of the Caribbean – a refreshing drink and a delicious snack all in one shell. Who knew it could be used for so much more?
After a local documentary was made about these benefits, Pedro Castle will be hosting Coco-fest, to help promote all the good you’ll find in a coconut.
“Coconut oil for us is more about getting people to consume it, there are tons of uses for coconut oil with your skin and God knows what else, but our message is that we want people to start consuming coconut oil by switching out their vegetable oils at home for locally made coconut oil on the island and you can literally cook anything with it,” said filmmaker Rob Tyler.
“Our message is change your oil, change your health and I think when people see the film they will understand how that might happen, that is technically one thing, but by doing that you begin to create a health consciousness for yourself and the reason we go after it is because it is something quite simple,” said nutritionist Tamer Soliman.
Coco-fest will be held on Saturday 20 February.
