Cayman honors the Commonwealth

There’s a third flag flying next to the Cayman Islands flag and the Union Jack at the Government Office and Administration Building tonight.

Her Excellency the Governor raised the Commonwealth flag this morning to celebrate Commonwealth day. As an overseas territory, Cayman is not officially a “member” of the Commonwealth, but the act pays tribute to the historical and cultural ties that the Caribbean shares with 58 nations around the world.

The Commonwealth flag will fly outside the Government Administration building for 24 hours, being illuminated tonight like others worldwide.
