Tillakaratne Dilshan’s unbeaten 83 helped Sri Lanka easily chase down Afghanistan’s total en route to a six-wicket win 17 March in the ICC World Twenty20 Championship main draw opener for both teams.
Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat, reaching 153 for seven in its 20 overs.
Led by Dilshan, Sri Lanka responded by reaching 155 with seven balls remaining.
Afterward, Dilshan said he wasn’t thinking about retirement.
“If I’m batting like this, playing like this, I don’t think any retirement at the moment,” he said. “I want to play. I’m really enjoying still my cricket.”
Two matches scheduled for 18 March. Australia will take on New Zealand and South Africa makes its tournament debut versus England.
