Over the weekend, the Hope for Today Foundation had its annual over 40s football match – West Bay versus George Town – a game to see which team brings the cup home to their district.
There was more to this football match than goals and good times. The hope for today foundation says it plays a vital role in helping people with substance abuse problems get rehabilitated back into society. By hosting this football match, it believes the island will see different communities can come together to support a good cause.
“We’ve all been through difficult times, we’ve had crime happening that we are not excited about, so its about coming together, the kids seeing us older guys together playing in harmony and all for a good cause to help those who need a little help along the way,” said George Town MLA Joey Hew.
George Town may have won this game against West Bay, but the real winners may be the residents of the hope for today foundation half-way house.
