Little leaguers are back on the diamond

Major League Baseball spring training is in full swing right now with leagues in Arizona and Florida.

A bit closer to home, Cayman’s future stars of the diamond are catching the fever.

The Cayman Islands Little League Association spring season is off and running with the regular season starting a few weeks ago.

“Any sports that involves a team, it’s never about one player,” volunteer umpire Jim Parham said. “It’s about everybody playing together for a common goal, which is to win the game. Winning is a part of life, so therefore if you learn that from a young age that you’ll be a part of a team and you have to contribute to the team, then as you grow older you won’t have to be taught that at that time. You’ve already known it from when you were little.
