After the esterly tibbetts highway is finished, the next big project, fixing the Red Bay roundabout, a blackspot for accidents. Regardless if the rain is heavy or light, once water hits the round-a-bout it becomes prone for drivers loosing control .
The N-R-A will be doing some geometrical changes to the roundabout .With previous attempts to refurbish the asphalt being unsuccessful, then they plan to change the camber of the roundabout , making the road angle inwards instead of outwards.
“Friction is very dependent on the angle of the surface that you are driving on , yes , it does affect friction and the geometric changes are specifically to improve friction” said Edison Jackson , Senior Engineer at the National Roads Authority.
With more friction being added to the roads, this will give drivers the stability they need to drive safely. This project will start on the first week April.
