Robbers brandish a gun, and rob customers.

Armed thieves struck over the weekend on two separate occasions, and it wasn’t a simple stick-up at the cash register in one place.  Three masked men stormed Alfresco’s restaurant in West Bat on Sunday night.
Cayman 27 crews arrived on scene shortly after the robbery. A spokes person for the RCIPS told  said, that shortly after 9 pm, 1 man entered the diner, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. Meanwhile, out on the back deck, 2 more men approached diners and demanded their valuables.

While suspects 2 and 3 tried to collect the valuables of the customers, one patron attempted to fight back. He engaged in a scuffle with robber number 2. During the scuffle robber number 2 signaled robber number 1, who had the gun. Robber number 1 then came outside and fired a shot in the air.  Upon hearing the gunshot, the customer then gave in and surrendered his wallet. He received injuries to his head and arm as a result of the scuffle, and was transported to the  Cayman Islands Hospital.

The robbers fled in a silver car headed toward west church street. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the West Bay Police Station at 649-3999.

Robber number 1 is described being either 5′ 10″ or 5′ 11″. He was wearing a mask that only left his eyes exposed. Robbers number 2 is believed to be 6′ 2″ tall. He and robber number 3 w  wearing black and white bandannas from the nose down.

Police were also called out to another robbery in West Bay. On Saturday night a lone gun man held up a A Mini-mart on Birch Tree Hill Road. After forcing a female employee to empty the cash register, and taking an additional 5 cellular phones, the man then made off behind the Chill Rock apartments.

The suspect is described as 5′ 4″, of medium build and with a dark brown complexion. He was wearing a long sleeve shirt or sweater, with a dirty t-shirt over his face, and he was carrying a black or purple string bag. Anyone with information can call police anonymously on 949-4222 or 800-8477 (TIPS).
