A shop owner threatened by knife wielding attacker fights him off, when she reaches for a can of bug spray.
Elida Scott was working late this week when a man broke into her store.
Miss Scott decided to fight back, with her own special brand of pest control.
Alone and trapped in the back of her fashion store and with a thief looming large outside, she took matters into her own hands.
“I had the bug spray in my hand and I spray directly into his eyes,” said Miss Scott.
“And he’s paralysed and don’t want to move. So I spray and he start to cry. Covering his face, with the knife like that and he don’t want to move. So I say the police is coming, the police is coming, and he run away.”
Although she fought back, Miss Scott still fears for her safety.
She added, “My door is always closed. Somebody is coming to install some alarms and I don’t sleep well. He take something from me. It’s hard to explain. He never hurt me physically but mentally he did.”
Miss Scott believes her attacker may have sought medical attention after she sprayed him with the bug repellent, and she’s appealing for medics to contact police if they helped him.
She says the thief is about six foot one inch tall and was wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information is asked to call George Town Police Station on 949-4222.
