The Fidelity Cayman Storm held off a late surge by the Advance Fire and Plumbing Buccaneers to win 19-14 and win the Dart Vase Saturday 19 March at the Rugby Club.
The Storm have only won two games this season, according to a Rugby Club spokesperson. Those two wins were in the Dart Vase semifinals and the finals.
It wasn’t easy, however, as an eight-point lead late in the game nearly slipped away.
A yellow card and subsequent converted penalty cut the Storm lead to 19-14.
The Bucs then came close to scoring a try but the ball carrier stepped out just feet before the try line.
The Bucs got the ball back due to an infraction on the previous play but lost possession, ending the threat.
Jeffrey Robinson and Venasio Tokatokavanua addes tries for the Storm.
