Court visits scene of the crime

Action in the courts actually took place outside of the courthouse, as two men accused of murder are taken to the scene of the crime.

Jason Powery was shot dead outside the Globe Bar in central George Town last summer.

Barristers for one of the accused said this was a gang-land murder and the key witness for the prosecution, a member of the Birch Tree Hill gang.

Giving evidence for the second day, Jerome Hurlston said he had no knowledge his friend had received a death threat, and denied ever going to Jamaica to collect guns and drugs.

As well as denying the murder charge, Justin Ramoon and Osbourne Douglas have also pleaded not guilty to the possession of an unlicenced firearm. The trial before his Honour Mr. Justice Charles Quin, is expected to last two weeks.

Cayman 27’s Paul Kennedy was in court, and has this report.
