Dodson, Mendes crowned Cayman Islands golf champions

Golfers Joel Dodson and Isabel Mendes over the weekend were crowned champions in their respective divisions of the Cayman Islands Amateur Championships.

Dodson won the men’s title after he shot a 2-under-par 70 on day one and followed that up with a round of 74 on day two for a total of 144. That was one-stroke better than junior Andrew Jarvis and Phillip Wight. They finished tied for second place.

Mendes cut eight strokes off her day-one total in the second round of play and won the women’s title by two strokes over Nitti Howe.

Scott Kapuscinski won the senior division title while Braden Howe topped the super seniors division.
