Harrison joins Cayman’s beach volleyball team

Cayman Islands women’s beach volleyball has a late substitution ahead of the local stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour.

Marissa Harrison will replace Illean Powery on one of Cayman’s two women’s teams competing in this weekend’s competition, according to a press release from the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation. Harrison will play alongside Chante Smith-Johnson.

At 14-years old, Harrison is the youngest player in the tournament.

A CIVF spokesperson tells Cayman 27 Powery is focusing on other pursuits at this time and will return to tournaments as soon as she’s able.

Powery and Smith-Johnson in the past have played together for Cayman at several international tournaments.

On the men’s side, Philippe Deslandes and Olney Thompson represent Cayman on the men’s side.
