Local musician and clarinettist Deidra Campbell will visit New York City by way of Scholarship where scouts will review the works of the teenager.
Campbell will be going trough weeks of intense training in the Empire State where as she puts it: Music will be a part of everything she does. “I am going to have four weeks of intense training where its individual study with my instrument, playing in various groups, they have an orchestra as well, I am going to eat, breathe and sleep music,” Ms. Campbell said while explaining her trip to the Big Apple.
Director of Music at UCCI Glen Inanga says that his mentee is more than prepared for all challenges coming her way and he added that a change of scenery is beneficial towards her further development.
“Yes now Deidra is a very natural musician, she’s very gifted, she definitely thrives in situations where she’s challenged, where she’s pushed, where she’s given the exposure to really sort of perform at the very, very highest level. Unfortunately, she’s in a sense done the best she can here in Cayman in the sense that Cayman can’t do anymore for her,” Mr Inanga said.
Several scouts will be reviewing Ms. Campbell’s musical pieces while in the United States.
