American LaShawn Merritt left quite an impression at the the Chris Brown Bahamas Invitational over the weekend.
Merritt, who is scheduled to come to Cayman in May for the Cayman Invitational, ran a world-leading time in the 200-metres. His time of 19.78 seconds was a career-best time as well.
“It wasn’t as bad as the time. It didn’t feel that hard,” Merritt said afterward. “I focused on executing the race. When you execute, things tend to come a lot smoother. I never panicked in any part of the race. I’ve been working on some things. I’ve been training hard and you see what hard work and dedication gets you.”
