Scholars, Elite stay atop CIFA Premier League standings

Scholars and Elite both won over the weekend to keep things tight atop the Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League points table.

The official table has not yet been released by CIFA. At last unofficial check, however, Scholars held a two-point lead over Elite.

Jessus Ebanks’ 85th-minute strike gave league-leading Scholars a 1-0 win over Academy.

Elite, meanwhile, got goals from Jermaine Wilson, Andres Ruiz and Dwayne Wright en route to a 3-1 victory over Bodden Town.

Roma was a 2-0 winner over George Town thanks to Andra Allen and Peter Rose goals.

In a thriller, Sunset and Cayman Athletic drew 1-1.

Paul Hennessey put Sunset up 1-0 with his 30th-minute goal before Gareth Fraser equalised two minutes into extra time.

In another matchup this weekend, Scholars shut out Cayman Brac 5-0 in FA Cup action. Rolly Bodden and Jessus Ebanks each had two goals apiece in the win.
