BBL club Renegades cut ties with Gayle

The latest controversy surrounding West Indies batsman Chris Gayle is too much for one club to handle.

Days after he was involved in another scandal over his reported sexist remarks with a British journalist, Big Bash League franchise Melbourne Renegades confirmed they will not re-sign Gayle for next summer’s tournament.

Club Executive Stuart Coventry said 25 may the club is looking elsewhere to fill its overseas quota.

West Indies Test Captain Darren Sammy, meanwhile, has come out in support of Gayle. Sammy says the people are targeting the Caribbean slugger.
