Guilty of murder. Two brothers are convicted of killing Jason Powery.
Justin Ramoon and Osbourne Douglas hardly flickered Thursday (26 May) as Justice Charles Quin delivered his verdict.
Friends of family of Jason hugged each other at the back of court. One pointed to the skies and said, “Thank you Jesus”.
Osbourne Douglas provided the weapon, a loaded 9mm.
His brother Justin Ramoon pulled the trigger. Shooting dead Jason Powery from close range outside Globe Bar last summer.
And the reason why? Only they know.
Even the Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl Richards QC said they have not been able to find a motive for the murder.
After shooting him dead, Ramoon was picked up close by in a car driven by Douglas. And they disappeared into the night.
No forensic evidence linking the pair to the murder. No weapon. And no gun shot residue.
But there were two witnesses, both friends of Mr. Powery, who saw one brother pass a gun to the other, and Ramoon pull the trigger.
Although the brothers will be jailed for mandatory life sentence for murder, under new laws a tariff will be set to determine when they will be eligible for parole.
