World War C, a war only to be won by the team with the sweetest tooth.
As delicious cupcakes were whipped up and sprinkles were thrown down, the kitchen of the Ritz Carlton was a battle ground for Cayman’s young pastry enthusiasts.
“Some of them see it on the food network and kind of picture themselves there, a lot of them have aspirations to get into the food industry and pastry chefs, so it gives them an opportunity to get a stab at it, to see if they really enjoy this kind of stuff,” said James Myles from Youth Services Unit.
“They’re going to have their ups and downs it’s a very tight time, they have two hours only; to be able to prepare their batters, get them into the oven and get the cupcakes cooled down and get them decorated to what their expectation is,” said Melissa Logan, Executive Pastry Chef for Ritz-Carlton.
This is the fourth year cupcake war has been running, youth services unit coordinator James Myles says he wants to make the competition more intense, like the TV show. The Baking Bumblebees took first place.
