For the first time in several years, a ferry service plans to offer daily trips across the North Sound.
Cayman Ferries told Cayman 27 it hopes to start the service in June, once the company takes delivery of its new 30 passenger catamaran.
The ferry will be able to make the crossing from the docks at Camana Bay to Kaibo in around 20 minutes.
The company said it expects to serve both tourists who want to see the whole island, as well as locals who’d rather skip the long drive across the island.
He said the ferry will start with a few trips a day, and go from there.
“Those are details that we’ll work out,” said Ronnie Anglin of Cayman Ferries. “Getting it here, getting it into operation, we wanted to get that started, and then we’ll fine-tune the schedule as far as that’s concerned.”
Mr. Anglin told Cayman 27 a round trip ticket will cost around $20 US. He said the company will likely offer commuter specials down the road as well.
