For more than a decade she was held captive in a house of horrors. Now three years after being freed, she’s sharing the story of her ordeal.

Lillian Lee, formerly known as Michelle Knight, acknowledges she will never fully heal from the years of abuse.

She told Cayman 27 she never expected to want to share her story, but when she realised her message resonated with and inspired other victims of abuse, she discovered talking about it has helped her in her own journey of healing.

“It’s truly amazing,” she said. “I get to do the things that I was held back from, that I was never allowed to be able to do, and I ‘m able to help people now.”

Hundreds turned out to hear her speak this afternoon at the Crisis Centre’s “Strength of a Woman” event at the Ritz-Carlton.
