The family of a young woman who drowned in Cayman’s waters is mourning their loss.
Christina Spradling-Earls got into difficulty snorkeling off Morritts Friday (27 May) evening.
She was rushed to the Cayman Islands Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The 29-year-old was visiting here with her husband Michael, who she married two weeks ago.
Her sister Stacie said the pair became high school sweethearts and had been together for 13 years.
“My sister was a friend to anyone, and had a heart of gold,” Stacie added.
“She could brighten anyone’s day with her smile and presence. This loss has hit our family and community pretty hard, which goes to show how much she meant to each and every one of us. Why she had to leave us so early is something i’ll never understand, but God gained one heck of an angel to fly high with him.”
Stacie added that her sister loved the water and was very comfortable swimming. This is the 9th death in our waters this year.
