Bone marrow registries have been uncommon or rarely used across the Caribbean, but that is changing as more people are approached to help save the lives of cancer patients.
During last week’s conference of caribbean rotaract clubs, the cayman islands cancer society met with young leaders from the region, to teach them the importance of having bone marrow registries in this part of the world.
“Bone marrow count registery should be one of the top things that we need to have because of the low registerants level, people that have registered in the bone marrow registry.” Said Dr. Sook Yin, a board member of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society

The Flowers Sea Swim raised more than 25-thousand dollars to create a bone marrow registry here.
