The Cayman Airways Under-14 Invitational Youth Cup kicks off Monday (20 June) with three games: Sunset and REV Soccer Club at 4:45 p.m., Academy and IFFDC at 6:30 p.m. and Gillingham and Cavalier FC at 8:15 p.m.
Game one between Sunset and REV was postponed for about 45 minutes due to inclement weather.
Most of the teams arrived over the weekend and got together 20 June for a beach breakfast and some time to meet other players and coaches.
That provided plenty of chatter directed toward the tournament’s headlining club, Tottenham Hotspur.
“It’s brilliant,” said Academy’s Jake Slater, a Tottenham supporter. “So hopefully I’ll be seeing them on TV one day. You also make friends and maybe speak to them in the future and get to know them. But, yeah, I mean, asking them a few questions what it like and stuff. So, yeah, that’s really good being a Tottenham fan.”
