The Cayman Islands has been chosen to host Group 2 of the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Under-17 Championship.
Host Cayman will be joined by three teams drawn into the group, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Aruba.
Group 2 play takes place 20-24 July. The venues have not yet been selected.
“The reality is that CFU still has (sic) the confidence in CIFA to host a high caliber tournament. At the same time, it is a great opportunity for our boys to showcase their talent at home before their families and fans.”
Cayman’s team — comprised mainly of players who helped the country place third last year at the CFU Under-15 Championship — is set to hold a training camp in Cayman Brac this weekend.
Cayman then travels to Florida later in the month for a final camp as coaches try to whittle the roster to 24 players.
Group winners from the first round of the tournament qualify for the final round, scheduled for September.
