Final round shaping up in CFU U20 championship

The final day of CFU Under 20 World Cup Qualifying saw Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago all top their respective groups.

Here are results from the most recent round of play:

Guadeloupe 5 – 0 Turks and Caicos

Yvan Macon 17′, 30′, 48′, Giovanni Dupalon 51′, Dimitri Bolivar 53′

Guadeloupe defeated the Turks and Caicos Islands 5 – 0 in final match, picking up its first points of the tournament. Scoring for Guadeloupe in the first half was Yvan Macon in the 17th, 30th and 48th minute. Giovanni Duplaon added a fourth goal in the 51st minute of play. The final goal of the match would come from Dimitri Bolivar in the 53rd minute, ending the match 5 – 0.

St. Lucia 1 – 1 Trinidad and Tobago

Casius Jospeh 39′ (LCA), Isaiah Hudson 63′ (TRI)

Hosts Trinidad and Tobago came from behind to grab a point from St. Lucia, who were also vying for the top spot in group 2. St. Lucia went ahead in the 39th minute through Casius Jospeh and took a lead into the second half. Trinidad and Tobago equalized in the 63rd minute through Isaiah Hudson, and the match ended 1 – 1 after full time.

St. Kitts and Nevis 4 – 2 Dominica

Gvanne Amory 14′, Steve Archibald 43′, Tahir Hanley 72′, Javier Sutton 77′ (SKN)
Fitz Jolly 68′, Dillon Augustine 70′ (DOM)

St. Kitts and Nevis topped group 4 after defeating Dominica 4 -2. Scoring for St. Kitts and Nevis were Gvanne Amory 14th, Steve Archibald 43rd, Tahir Hanley 72nd and Javier Sutton in the 77th. Scoring for Dominica were Fitz Jolly in the 68th minute and Dillon Augustine in the 70th.


Dominican Republic 1 – 2 Jamaica

Victor Polanco 86′ (Dom Rep), Shammar Nicholson 19′ (JAM), Nathaniel Adamolekun 70′ (JAM)
Group 4 hosts the Dominican Republic fell to Jamaica 2 -1 but still advanced to the final round as group runners-up. Scoring for Jamaica was Shammar Nicholson in the 19th minute followed by a second half strike by Nathaniel Adamolekun in the 70th minute. The lone goal for the Dominican Republic came from Victor Polanco in the 86th minute.

Antigua and Barbuda 1 -1 Puerto Rico

Javorn Stevens 2′ (ANT), Jeimax Osorio 21′ (PR)

Antigua and Barbuda topped Group 1 after a hard fought 1 -1 draw with Puerto Rico. Antigua opened the scoring early as Javorn Stevens converted in the 2nd minute. Puerto Rico equalized in the 21st minute through Jeimax Osorio, who made it 1- 1 going into halftime. Both teams failed to add another goal during the match, it ending 1 -1 with Antigua and Barbuda finishing as group winners

Cuba 5 – 0 Sint Maarten

Eduard Enrique 7′, Lazaro Zanetti 9′, Dariel Alejandro 68′, 80′, Yaon Humberto82′ (CUB)

Cuba would secure second place by defeating Sint Maarten 5 – 0 and ending group play on six points. Scoring for Cuba in the first half were Eduard Enrique in the 7th minute followed by Lazaro Zanetti in the ninth, ending the first half 2 – 0.

Group three — which includes the Cayman Islands — has yet to play.
