The Flowers sea swim is making a splash in the international press.
The 24th annual swimming event took place this long weekend, bringing local, international and Olympic swimmers to the shores of Seven Mile Beach to compete. A reporter from Open Water Swimming, a magazine specializing in the world of open water swimming, says the Flowers sea swim is one of the best.
“So personally I’ve been to probably over forty different countries following the sport of open water swimming and this is by far one of the best events in the world, it’s organized so well, Mr. Flowers has thought of every little detail, from safety to awards, raffles, flying all these international athletes , former Olympians, current Olympians, open water specialists, it’s just one of a kind,” said Lexie Kelley a participant for the swim meet and a reporter for Open Water Swimming.
Miss Kelley says she has come to Cayman for the last four years to report on and swim in the event.
All the proceeds will be going towards the Cayman Islands bone marrow donation fund in memory of the late Eve Flowers.
