Hurricane season may only be a few days old but things are heating up for Cayman and the rest of the Caribbean.

Today (June 02)  Her Excellency the Governor Helen Kilpatrick released a hurricane season message. In it she says with season is upon us, people should ensure they’ve covered all their bases and are prepared for whatever may come blowing in our direction.

“Please find out in advance about your area, your home and how this may have been affected in the past. Think about where your home is positioned. If you have a car, where might be the safest place to park it. Find out the location of your nearest hurricane shelter in case you need to get to a place of safety and where your nearest emergency medical centre is. This information will help you to decide where to stay in your home whether to go to an alternative location,” said Her Excellency.
