Gov’t to spend $1.2 million on sports associations

Government over the next 18 months plans to spend more than $1.2 million on sports associations, clubs and other entities, according to draft budget documents tabled in the Legislative Assembly.

Twenty-seven line items total $1,225,778. That comes out to more than $2,200 per day for the next 1.5 years.

The Cayman Islands Boxing Club is in line for the largest amount of public funding during that game at $135,263.

As Sports Minister Hon. Osbourne Bodden alluded to last week, there is no funding listed for the Cayman Islands Football Association.
