Jamaican sprinter Sherone Simpson will not compete in the 2016 Rio Olympics, according to the Jamaica Observer.
The newspaper reports the Olympic silver medalist will miss the games due to a nagging injury and recent pregnancy. It quotes her as saying her hamstring injury was not improving as planned, so she decided the time was right to start a family.
Simpson said she’s had the injury since December, which flared up several times during the 2016 season.
Simpson won silver in the 100 metres at the 2008 Olympics, where the Jamaican women swept the event.
