Jamaica’s Thompson continues to win

Upstart Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson continues to prove she’s emerging as one of the country’s top women’s runners.

Thompson Thursday (2 June) won the women’s 100-metres at the Rome Diamond League meet. She crossed the line in a season’s-best time of 10.87 seconds running out of lane seven. She sped past American English Gardner, who took second.

American Justin Gatlin won on the men’s side. He also clocked a season’s-best time, 9.93 seconds. He edged countryman Ameer Webb, who placed second in 9.94 seconds.
