Cydonie Mothersill now is in charge of Cayman Islands track and field following the resignation of former Cayman Islands Athletics Association President Dr. Dalton Watler.
Watler resigned earlier this year after a gaffe by the CIAA prevented hurdler Ronald Forbes from competing at the IAAF World Indoor Championships.
Mothersill confirms the CIAA Executive Committee did accept his resignation and, as First Vice-President, she now serves as interim President until September’s Annual General Meeting.
“The CIAA Executive Committee and the entire membership wishes to thank Dr. Watler for his services to the track and field fraternity and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” Mothersill said in an e-mail.
Watler had served in the role since 2012.
