Cayman Islands Netball Association coaches kept a close eye on the action Saturday (28 May) during the first Junior Satellite Academy Tournament.

Girls ages 8-12 took to the court after five weeks of training.

Purple Fusions won the competition, followed by Yellow Thunder and Blue Merlins.

While it was a day of fun for players and their families, Technical Director Violet Corbin says the event was a means to an end.

“As far as I’m concerned at the moment (netball) has been lacking on the island,” Corbin said. “The National squad needs to start at young age. So we are encouraging the young people to start at this age and build.”

Coaches selected a handful of players after the tournament for a development programme geared toward future National team players.
