The community fundraising effort has been praised by many, but others have said government should have paid for the ambulance as a basic service.
He asked the Hon. Franz Manderson for his take, and this afternoon he told us.

It is easy to sit back and be critical of the government but the right thing to do is to get out there and assist the government when we can. Given this, I commend the Heart Fund for raising money to purchase the ambulance and I thank everyone who made the DG5K an overwhelming success,” said Deputy Governor Hon. Franz Manderson
A representative from the Cayman Heart Fund told us today the Health Services Authority is now getting estimates on the purchase of a new ambulance.
