Cayman’s National beach volleyball team is out of the running in its bid to qualify for the Rio Olympics.
The team of Jessica Wolfenden, Stefania Gandolfi, Chante Smith-Johnson and Illean Powery fell to Trinidad and Tobago in a fifth “golden set” Friday 24 June in a must-win game.
The loss ended Cayman’s run in the Continental Cup event, in Mexico, where the winner earned an Olympic berth.
Cayman opened the competition with a golden set win over El Salvador before falling to Cuba in the quarterfinals.
