The Public Health office said it’s working to get to the bottom of what it has described as a ‘possible’ case of Zika that may have crossed our shores.

Public Health officials told Cayman 27 a visitor to the Cayman Islands was reportedly diagnosed with the Zika virus upon return to that person’s home country.

Acting medical officer of health, Dr. Samuel Williams said his office has been in contact with the patient to gather what he termed as the exact details of the individual’s travel history, onset of symptoms, and location of stay during the visit to the islands as well as other pertinent information that will assist in the investigation.

Public Health said an update will come as the investigation proceeds.
