The Cayman Islands joined the rest of the British Empire in celebrating our head of state’s 90th birthday.
A 21-gun salute and three cheers during the ceremony awards signaled the birthday milestone. A traditional parade in downtown Georgetown also marked Queen Elizabeth II’s ninth decade. Local accountant and civic leader Mr. Dan Scott was awarded Officer of the most excellent order of the British Empire. O.B.E
“It’s actually quite an honour, but as I’ve said, its other before, I think it’s an honour that’s a part of the community, as opposed to an individual, we earn this as a community and I am humbled, but certainly honored, on behalf of my colleagues, friends and other folks in the Cayman Islands to accept it,” Dan Scott, Awarded OBE.
The member of the most excellent order of the british empire was granted to Philip Agustus Rankin for his work in the local financial services and Charles Wesley Watler for his commitment in local development.
