An group accused of trolling with its online calls to restrict scuba diving in Cayman’s waters is firing back at critics.

One person behind Save Cayman Reefs told Cayman 27 the group is aware its message has upset some in the dive community.

The person said they are disgusted by the suggestion the group is nothing more than a shill for the pro-port agenda.

Citing personal safety, the group says it will continue to push for dive restrictions, but will continue to do it anonymously.

“For the sake of our friendships and personal safety we’d prefer to be helpers in the background [rather] than taking on the actual face of the push,” Save Cayman Reefs told Cayman 27 in a message.

Those on the other side told Cayman 27 the best way to deal with a troll is to ignore them.
