West Indies meet South Africa Friday (24 June) with a trip to the Tri-Nation Series finals on the line.
Coach Phil Simmons says, no matter the results, he’s pleased with the Windies’ performance in the tournament.
“For us to be in a competition with number one and number three in the world and still be in the competition looking to be in the final in the last game, it’s what we spoke about at the beginning of the tournament,” Simmons said. “We need to make sure that we are winning games against these top teams in order to be moving up the table. So everyone has put their hand up at some point in time. A few still have to come to the party but most of the guys have put their hands up and said, ‘well, look, we want to go up the table with you.’ So it’s great to see.”
Australia already clinched its spot in the final by beating the Caribbean side on Tuesday (21 June).
