Thieves struck last night, and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash from inside a bank. In the dead of night burglars broke into the Royal Bank of Canada’s (RBC) main branch in George Town. They weren’t able to get into the vault, instead they took money from tills behind the cashiers desks. Employees of the bank were turned away from work earlier today (June 23), while customers were redirected to other branches.
Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who may have seen suspicious activity around the bank after 9 pm to contact detectives at 949-4222 or crime stoppers at 800-TIPS (800- 8477).
