Cayman’s beach volleyball players are in Mexico this weekend hoping to earn a spot in the Rio Olympics.

Jessica Wolfenden, Stefania Gandolfi, Chante Smith-Johnson and Illean Powery are set to compete in the final Continental Cup tour stop, where 12 teams will battle for the top spot as only the winner earns a berth to the Games, according to a Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation spokesperson.

Earlier this year, Gandolfi and Wolfenden teamed up to place fourth at the Cayman Islands stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour. That was the best finish for a local team in recent memory.
