West Indies fell to Australia 26 June by 58 runs as as the Aussies take home the trophy in the Tri-Nations Series tournament.
Josh Hazlewood took five wickets for 50 runs and Mitchell Marsh took three wickets for 32 runs as the Aussies limited the middle of the Windies’ order.
Dwayne Bravo and Marlon Samuels both were caught out for six and Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles teamed up for the Caribbean side’s best partnership of 49 runs.
“I just felt they got 20, 30 runs too many,” West Indies Captain Jason Holder said. “I think we lapsed a little bit in the field coming into that last stage of the innings. We lost Shannon Gabriel as well, you know, I felt his two overs coming back were crucial. And we just weren’t able to close off the innings. Having said that, we were off to a pretty descent start, just fell away in the middle, you know, and we never really recovered.”
Up next for Caribbean cricket is the HERO Caribbean Premier League, which begins on 29 June.
