New Auditor General Sue Winspear told Cayman 27 she’s determined to make sure the reports from her office don’t gather dust on a shelf.

She said it’s very important that the recommendations made in the Auditor General’s reports be taken on-board by the relevant agencies. She said she’s focused on working with the public sector to give recommendations from her office the best odds of implementation.

“Government and civil service can do the best work in the world, but with our reports, we want those recommendations enacted, so the thing that I’m going to have to find is not what I do, but how I go about doing it, how’s the best way to engage with people to get those results,” said Ms. Winspear.

For an independent office like the Auditor General’s, she said a constructive relationship with the Public Accounts Committee is extremely important.
