Kareem Foster and Jabari Campbell each scored two goals to lead the Cayman Islands National Under-17 Boys Football team to a 6-0 win over Florida-based West Pines United in a warm-up match ahead of the Caribbean Football Union World Cup qualifiers.
Jalen Walters and Rico Bodden Jr. added scores for Cayman, which is holding its final training camp this week ahead of the regional competition.
“Well I think this team has matured in the last couple years,” said CUC Primary Football League Coordinator Neil Murray, who works closely with the team. “It’s a team we’ve actually had since 2011. So they’ve gelled nicely, they’ve been to a couple tournaments on their own.”
Cayman has two more warm-up matches before returning home.
Group two of the CFU U17 World Cup qualifiers will be hosted in Cayman, with all games being played at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.
Cayman opens play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday 20 July versus Aruba before taking on Puerto Rico two days later. The home team wraps up group play on 24 July by taking on Haiti.
