Bodden Town Civic Centre has been returned to its original purpose, a civic centre. For the past several months, the building has been used to house Cuban migrants..

However, earlier this week, the Immigration Department repatriated 43 Cuban migrants back to Havana.

There were some concerns the Civic Centre would not be able to be used in the event of an emergency during hurricane season. But now, it’s been freed up.

There are currently 64 migrants on island, all being housed at the Immigration Detention Centre at Fairbanks.
